Piemonte means “at the foot of the mountains”, which accurately depicts this region of northwestern Italy set between the Alps and the Apennine mountain range. This is the land of fine cuisine and delectable truffles, as well as world famous wines such as Barolo and Barbera. Rich, lush, beautiful and delicious are the words that come to mind when describing our trip to Peimonte.
Our 7-day tour combines leisurely paced walks with an array of gourmet delicacies to awaken the senses. As well, baroque and art nouveau palaces and castles impressively dominate along the route. It’s a region that accurately depicts the “slow food” movement of recent years. Beginning in Alba, famous for its white truffles, each day consists of approximately 8mi/12km walks between destinations. We take our time and enjoy the peaceful scenery that envelopes us.
We enjoy a wonderful cooking lesson and dine on what we have prepared. Since this is the land of fine wines, one can indulge in two organized wine-tastings in Morra and Montforte.
Accommodations are in traditional family run establishments, many with superb restaurants onsite. On the way back, we stop at the Outlet Mall for some incredible deals on Italian designers. Then back to the city of Torino, the capital of this region and worth a visit before or after your tour.
